Fietsersbond: cycling to work
Fine-tuning an innovative partnership and writing a best-in-class proposal.
2023
We collaborated with the Fietsersbond to craft a comprehensive proposal that secured significant funding from the Belgian Federal Government for their innovative program to promote cycling to work. The initiative aims to connect employees, employers, Fietsersbond volunteers, and local governments to share information, gather insights, and advocate for better, safer cycling routes.
Our role included:
Developing a compelling funding application: We helped articulate the Fietsersbond’s vision and structured their proposal to align with the government’s Cycling to Work program.
Strategic alignment: We ensured the program addressed key challenges, such as infrastructure gaps and policy integration, while promoting a modal shift towards cycling for work commutes.
The program builds on the success of the Bike to Work initiative and includes:
Cyclopedia: A centralized knowledge hub for employers and employees, covering topics like bike parking, combining bike allowances with mobility budgets, and leasing options.
Tailored advice: Personalized guidance for employers to implement effective cycling policies.
Engaging campaigns: Stimulating participation through challenges, events, and rewards.
Mapping obstacles: Identifying bottlenecks on cycling routes and providing alternative solutions during roadworks or detours.
By working with over 15 companies in a test phase, the Fietsersbond is refining this offering, which will be officially launched at a Cycling to Work symposium in March 2025. Our collaboration has strengthened their capacity to drive a mental and modal shift towards cycling, fostering healthier, more sustainable commuting habits.
