Digital twin mobility expert

Mobility data expert for a Digital Twin project

2020 - 2022

The Flanders Digital Twin is a key initiative within the Smart Flanders network, aimed at transforming the region into a connected, data-driven smart region.

As an independent expert, we contributed our expertise in mobility data analysis and assessed the impact of proposed scenarios on urban mobility.

Flanders, a densely populated metropolitan region of 6.7 million people, faces significant challenges related to traffic congestion, air pollution, and limited physical activity among residents. The Digital Twin created is a digital copy of the 'reel' world, allowing to simulate certain scenario's and combine data & insights from multiple domains. DUET provides a platform that integrates mobility, health, and environmental data. By simulating various policy measures, it enables cities and stakeholders to explore correlations and make informed decisions.

Through our involvement, we ensured the accurate analysis of mobility data and the realistic evaluation of proposed measures. This work supports the development of actionable strategies, such as promoting alternatives to car travel, reducing air pollution, and encouraging active transportation. By focusing on data-driven decision-making, the Flanders Digital Twin is a vital tool for creating healthier, more sustainable cities, positioning the region as a leader in smart urban innovation.
