Pieter Morlion launches the concept of Electricity-as-a-Service in Knack / Datanews. He proposes one subscription for energy allowing EU citizens to produce energy wherever and whenever they want. This would allow: - to charge an electric car no matter where you are and (virtually) use the energy of your solar panels - login to the elektricity meter in your Airbnb and user your own energy / subscription - track the energy that is being used for service or consumer goods you buy (aluminium windows, sneakers, an MRI scan) - decentrally exchange energy with other citizens - share your energy consumption with the world and link an 'energy score' to subsidies, home insulation and transport for example article on the Knack / Datanews website. #electricity #electricityasaservice #energy #subscription #electric #vehicle #car #single #market http://www.elektricityasaservice.com/
MORE LION is working for Fietsberaad Vlaanderen (a non-for-profit advising cities in Flanders on cycling policies & cycling measures) on how to improve bicycle parking at large transport hubs: more efficient, more comfortable, safer. Earlier we founded the Velopark platform together. We have developed a concept together with IMEC, that will be tested soon. This article gives an overview of the current state of affairs (in Dutch) #Velopark #Fietsbeleid #bicycle #parking #bike #innovation #RFID #Fietsberaad #NMBS #Vlaandern #Belgium
Contribution to a vision on automative data sharing for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration1/5/2021
MORE LION was asked to contribute to a vision for 'Statens Vegvesen' and how they can prepare for the future and automotive data sharing in the future. The study was conducted by KPMG Norway. The study can be found here. #automotive #data #sharing #datasharing #vision #strategy #future #Norway #KPMG
MORE LION gave a 2-day introductory course in project management at Syntra / Nxt-Pro in Ghent and in-house at Oxfam Solidarity in Brussels. Students have given the teacher (a project management professional) straight 9/10. You can contact us for an in-house course or subscribe here for the next Syntra / Nxt-Pro course. #project #projectmanagement #PMP #course #introduction #inhouse #education #management
MORE LION helped ITS Belgium in preparing the strategy for their annual conference (as we did last year), moderated a number of sessions and presented a wrap-up of the congress. #presentation #moderator #keynote #mobility #ITS #strategy #conference
Pieter Morlion was asked to curate the transport & mobility session of the AI4Growth industrial AI conference in collaboration with 'The European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases' Pieter gave a presentation on the future of mobility and artificial intelligence, and moderated the session on mobility. #keynote #presentation #mobility #artificialintelligence #future #AI
For the 'bike congres 2020' #Fiets20, Pieter Morlion gave a presentation on the Velopark project we are working on for Fietsberaad Vlaanderen. Through using a little technology and smart policy, we developed a concept to lift bike parking to a higher level in terms of comfort and safety. The presentation can be watched below:
The Smart Mobility Dashboard Manywyas.be has been taken off-line. The project was the result of a very pleasant cooperation between www.waylay.io and MORE LION. We've built mobility dashboards for Brussels, Antwerp and Brussels Airport. The project was funded by the Belgian government in 2018. No funding was available to keep the dashboard in the air.
We did make a video on how the dashboard looked, for others to be inspired. We believe that dashboards are a great indermediary step in working with mobility data, because it shows to the world what you're doing, and you're already able to monitor traffic and evaluate some policy decisions. Read our article on 'Why imagination is more important than data' here. Below you can see a video demonstrating the Manyways.be dashboard as it was active during 2019:
Pieter Morlion was Interviewed by Esen Köse from Taxistop, an organisation that works on shared mobility (and the shared economy as a whole). They're conducting a series of interviews, "a tribe called transport" where they interview people working on mobility in Belgium. The interviews are aimed at students and we talked about the future of mobility and why elementary stuff is sometimes very uncool, like sewerage.
Mobilitytalks: De toekomst van smart mobility met Pieter Morlion Gazet van Antwerpen asked MORE LION to make an analysis of the impact of the corona quarantine measures on the mobility in the region. We used the www.manyways.be dashboard and data from the Telraam project to assess the impact. After two weeks of quarantine, traffic decreased with 66% in living areas, 49% less traffic is driving into Antwerp, and there are 32% less cars driving on the ring road. The bicycle sharing system sees a decrease in use of 57% and the punctuality of trains increased by 82%. You can read the article here.
